You need 2 d rings and a 9 inch piece of pleather that is the width of the d rings. the bigger the d rings the larger each of your braid strands will be and maybe more difficult to braid.
Put your pleather strip through the ring d and sew it like this, down the middle from as close to the d rings as possible.
Slice your one strip into three and it should look like this. We sewed the middle line of stitching in order to keep the d rings on as we braid.
Braid it and sew it at the end like so.
To add ribbon to cover it all first sew the ribbon onto the end like this and then wrap it around the back of the braid, through the d rings and then top stitch it near the spot you started the stitching with the first line.
There you go! You've got a braid chain thing. I'm making two and putting them on pants so they can be tightened. I'll definitely be using this technique a lot more and in experimental ways going forward.
